Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is proud to present The Last Hurrah, a free weekly comedy show premiering July 6th in the new Stage 2 space. Every Sunday at 7pm, join host Kevin Cole as he welcomes a panel of comedy writers, actors and special guests to discuss the events of the past week, life, and whatever else comes to mind. While the panel will change from week to week, regular panelists include Lisa Burl (MET Company member, Balls Deep In Love), Karli Cole (MET Regular, Seemless, Annual Live 2), and Andrew Michaels(Annual Writer, Annual Live 2). Panel discussions will be broken up with special appearences from local stand up comedians, improv groups, and sketch comedy, this week the show is joined by stand up comedian Stacey Axler. The show aims to give local comedic talent an open space to try new things infront of an audience, while giving audiences one final hurrah before they have to return to their 9-5 jobs on Monday morning.

The Last Hurrah is produced by MET Company Member Kevin Cole who will be familiar to MET audiences from Laugh Station, Pickle My Monkey, and The Annual Live. Each episode will be audibly recorded and released as a podcast the following day, this way audiences who aren’t able to attend can still enjoy the show every week.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre will present The Last Hurrah as part of its MET-X series, created to expand the collective horizons of the MET ensemble and its audience. Performances will take place on Sundays at 7pm starting July 6th at Maryland Ensemble Theatre (31 W Patrick St. Frederick) located in the historic FSK Hotel. The Last Hurrah is a free event and all are welcome to attend.

The Annual Live 2 premieres tonight!

FREDERICK, MD (June 20, 2014) – Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is proud to present the second installment of the comedy variety show, The Annual Live 2: The Sequeling.  Join The Annual Live cast as a they find themselves in the middle of a heated Twitter campaign to cancel their show following a sketch that is unfit for press releases. In an attempt to straighten out the show’s host (Kevin Cole) and the rest of the staff (Lisa Burl, Colleen Kelly, and Scott Travers) the network places a call to the convent to bring Karli Cole, the former co-host and current nun, to whip them into shape. Meanwhile, facing exile, Andrew Michaels, the show’s sad sack, is forced to find love, someone who will look past every awkward and unlovable thing about him and take care of him for life. It’s a comedic adventure that can safely be called The Larry Sanders Show meets Nunense meets Everybody Loves Raymond meets The Glass Menagerie,if none of those sound appealing then one might just want to stay in for the night.

MET Company Member Kevin Cole, who will be familiar to MET audiences from Laugh Station and Pickle My Monkey directs the Annual Live 2. It is written by Annual writers Kevin Cole, Andrew Michaels, and Scott Travers, and will feature cast members (Lisa Burl, Karli Cole, Kevin Cole, Caitlyn Joy, Colleen Kelly, Andrew Michaels, Scott Travers) playing fictional versions of themselves as they prepare to clean up their act and attempt to create an accessible show.

The Annual Live 2 originates from The Annual, a locally run, bimonthly humor magazine featuring much of the same talent. Their tenth issue is slated to be released in mid July.

Only the wise/insane, old Time Master holds the key to their survival… now, if they could just sober up in time for curtain call! The surreal, mind-altering, sci-fi/comedy series returns this summer, with a special guest appearance from DC-based comedian, Mikael Johnson! If you enjoy breast milk, Sylvia Plath, telethons, schpace schnapps, The BodyguardWWF and/or cannabis smoking robots, then this one is for you!
